Described in old astronomy, the orb is any concentric sphere surrounding the earth which carry celestial bodies in their evolution. This ongoing series explores the notion of the celestial form as spherical bodies.
The orb is a wheel thrown vase, using clay slip sourced from my mother’s land in Northeast Victoria. Fired five times in a Gas reduction kiln and oxidation electric kiln the form applied multiple layers of glaze and slip.
Made with Australian white stoneware clay.
Chewton Bushlands clay slip, blend of shino and silicon carbide glaze.
